Businesses, especially our investors, look to Grow Cedar Valley and other associations or organizations to help them interact with government at the local, state and federal levels. Your involvement is key to giving you a voice in affecting how your business is impacted by all levels of government.
View Iowa Chamber Alliance’s (ICA) week 10 bill tracker. This shows the status of the bills ICA is monitoring. This may be the last tracker you see for several weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Senate and House met Monday afternoon to pass a Continuing Resolution and a Supplemental Appropriation bill. The Legislature has begun a minimum 30-day session delay. Links to both bills are attached below.
SF 2408 is essentially the 2020 – 2021 budget or empowers the Governor with the Agency Directors to operate on essentially a status quo budget, subject to newly enacted legislation in 2019 and 2020. It also gives authority to move money between departments as necessary within certain limits. The bill also provided for supplemental appropriations to the Department of Human Services, primarily for Medicaid, for the remainder of this budget year ending June 30.
SCR102 adjourns the legislature until April 15. At that time they may or may not have any further business.
As of right now, it is unclear what the rest of the session will look like once they resume, however passing the budget will be the priority. We will keep you apprised of any significant activity emanating from the Governor’s office during this delay.
